So my mate and I went up to Frostburg on Friday, stayed the night, and went to the open house on Saturday.
It is a good school, Frostburg State University, I cannot deny that. That facilities were taken care of, the academics up to par, the food was good, and the scenery was beautiful. However, I did not find that it would redeem the fact that the weather gets colder, faster, the heavy breathing needed at a higher elevation, or the general feeling of claustrophobia* that I got from being up in the mountains. My mate loved it, I wasn't incredibly impressed... no offense if you go to Frostburg or plan to.
*I do not have a panicky, nervous sort of claustrophobia - I can tolerate small spaces - but I experienced a vague feeling of confinement knowing that the bars of my cage were steep drops and towering peaks.
The next college my mate and I plan on looking at will either be George Mason University (which is currently my top pick) or Virginia Commonwealth University (down in Richmond; I would like to go there for an MFA or Ph.D in Visual Arts), depending on when he can get time off and when their open houses are.
